Going home (?)

Dear friends, Liam has continued to improve every day. He is getting stronger and is able to play more. He has not had any fevers for four days! And despite all odds, the chemo has not dropped his blood counts yet. His immune system is still intact. The doctor today joked that Liam’s body just doesn’t do what it’s supposed to. They are pleased that his immune system has lasted this long and that it is still fighting his fungal infection.
Liam has been tolerating the intense chemo well, with minimal nausea. Thank you to those of you who are praying for him to remain comfortable and to feel well during this time.
This weekend, the doctors will begin weaning Liam off of the steroid that has been treating his IRIS (Liam’s overactive inflammatory response). Once he’s off the steroid, they will monitor him for a few days to see if his immune system has settled down.
If he remains stable and doesn’t get any fevers, they are talking about letting us go home NEXT WEEK! We long for this so much, but it is hard to be hopeful when they’ve already tried to send us home three times without success.
Please pray that we can go home next week. Pray that Liam’s body would continue to heal, that his fungal infection would remain under control, and that his fevers wouldn’t return this weekend. Please continue to pray for overall healing from the infection and leukemia.
Thank you for praying! God is working in and among us. We can see His providence in many ways.

What a terrific report. Prayers being answered!!!
