Dear Friends,
On Friday evening, Liam ended up back in the ER with a fever. His blood levels had plummeted and they admitted him to the hospital late that night. They were able to send him home on Saturday, but with a word of warning: he was officially neutropenic (low blood levels and no immune system). This came as a shock to us because it wasn’t supposed to happen until mid January. Our hearts sank as we considered the likely possibility that Liam would be in the hospital for Christmas. We made it through the weekend at home with the plan to get a blood transfusion on Monday.
However, when we got Liam’s labs drawn on Monday, we found that his blood levels had jumped back up on their own! We are so happy with this turn of events. This means that we will likely be home for Christmas and that we can enjoy this special week together without transfusions and hospital stays. Please pray that Liam continues to improve and that his blood levels continue to go up!
On Friday, Liam will have an ultrasound to check the ongoing fungal infection on his liver and spleen. The results will affect how we go about the next heavy month of treatment. Please pray that we would see healing and that the fungal infection would remain under control.
Lastly, Ben wrote an Advent devotional for our church with corresponding songs. Lily and Liam helped record a couple of them (see, "Go, Tell It on the Mountain"). I’ll leave a link below in case you want to listen to some singalong Christmas hymns and hear the kids. We pray that it blesses and encourages you. Thank you for all of your love and generosity toward us this past year.
Merry Christmas!
What a wrenching event - Lord, we plead with You to do Your strengthening work in Liam as well as Ben and Emily so they can celebrate Your birth and epiphany as a family, feasting and singing your praise together
What a gift that your family may be home for Christmas. The music is beautiful and has made my Christmas morning so very special. You all continue to be in my heart and prayers! May Jesus' carry you in His loving arms this New Year!
Really nice hymns!!!
Praying!

We will continue to pray that our loving Father continues to heal and provide. Merry Christmas!
