Liam tolerated chemo so well this past week that his medical team sent him home for the weekend. We were elated. Thank you for praying!
On Monday morning Liam will be readmitted to the hospital for another round of chemo which basically mimics this past week. A few things to note. First, the unpleasant side-effects of chemo are cumulative so we are still holding our breath. Second, this is the week when, due to chemo, Liam's blood counts will plummet along with his immune system. When this happens (and he's already on his way down) he is highly susceptible to nasty infections. Third, we will likely be at the hospital for 3ish weeks as Liam finishes chemo and as we wait for his blood counts and immune system to recover.
We trust the Lord has been sustaining our boy. Please continue to pray that Liam would experience minimal side-effects of chemo (vomiting, etc.) and pray for protection against the onset and spread of infection. Liam is predisposed to gut infections (because of the last one). He also has the ongoing fungal infection. Finally, because he has been in the hospital so much since his diagnosis, there is a higher risk of a drug-resistant bacterial infection. So, please pray for his protection and recovery. Pray for our endurance over the next few weeks.
Also, for those wondering, the process of getting at home nursing care has proven to be a long and difficult process. We have a potentional option lined up which would take effect after this next hosptial stay.
Thank you for your continued support.
We rejoice with you in this time of joy and family together. LORD thank You for Your gift of the weekend. Now we Pray that You will work Your deep power in Liam as he goes in for this next round of chemo. Give strength and and wisdom to Ben and Emily as they do their work along with supporting Liam
