Improvements & Delays

Dear friends,

Liam has continued to slowly improve. He is still not feeling well, still occasionally vomiting, and does not want to move much. However, he is definitely in less pain and discomfort than when we first arrived. The last few days he’s been able to get out of bed a little bit to play, and he and I have resumed his favorite activity: kindergarten. Liam is learning how to read, and I cannot express the amount of joy it gives me to teach this precious sick boy and watch him learn and grow.

Liam’s blood counts have returned, and we’re waiting to see if the infection will continue to resolve itself without surgical intervention. A recent CT scan showed some improvement, which is very encouraging. Unfortunately, he came down with a fever today, so we’re hoping it’s just the result of his immune system’s return, and not another infection. Please continue to pray for healing.

This week, Liam is scheduled to have a lumbar puncture, spinal chemo, bone marrow biopsy, feeding tube replacement, and a dressing change for his hickman line. He has to be partially awake for the feeding tube replacement so that his gag reflex will protect the tube from going into his lungs. As you can imagine, it’s a terrible and traumatic process. Please pray that all of these procedures go well and that the nurses will have quickness and skill as they switch out the feeding tube and dressing while Liam starts to come out of sedation. And pray that he doesn’t have any more fevers; the procedures were scheduled for Monday, but are now delayed until he’s feeling better.

Also on Monday, Lily has her first day of school at Cascade Christian. Please pray for this transition from homeschooling, and that she has a wonderful blessed time.

Prayers still going. Liam is a strong boy - I read his name means warrior and that sure does fit him. He is precious and is in my prayers as are all of you. Barb - the office.

Lord, we are grateful for every step of recovery and also lament the trauma of medical work that is part of that healing. We beg You to move as YHWH Rapha for Liam, as YHWH Shalom for Ben and Emily, and as El Roi for Lily and her sister, and El Shaddai for this beautiful family and their full support system.

We are praying, praying, praying! I'm excited to give my kids the update after school. We are continuously lifting Liam and y'all up in prayer as a family. We will continue to do so!
