Dear friends,
Liam got admitted to the hospital today and we are proceeding with the intense chemotherapy treatment this week. Last time he got this chemo, it caused severe nausea and then led to a serious gut infection that took months to heal. Liam will likely be in the hospital for the next month as he receives treatment and his blood counts recover. Please pray that he would be spared from all the terrible side effects this time around. And pray that he wouldn’t get any bad infections as his blood counts and immune system drop.
Also, on Friday we had our meeting with an infectious disease doctor at Seattle Children’s Hospital to get a second opinion on Liam’s fungal infection and inflammatory issues. They confirmed that the team at Mary Bridge is treating Liam the same way that they would in Seattle, which was such a comfort to us! They also collaborated with our oncology team to recommend specific antibiotics to prevent infection while Liam completes the intense chemotherapy this month.
Lastly, some very generous friends led by H&S Construction and Renovation and Criterion Property Group began building a second bathroom for us this week. The bathroom will be an addition inside our garage, so we'll post pictures as things progress. It will be a huge blessing, not just to our family of five, but specifically for Liam. It has been quite challenging to have only one bathroom while he has been sick. We are so thankful for the incredible generosity of everyone in our life during this difficult time. Thank you all for your love, prayers, and gifts to us!
I am praying for Liam that he uses his superman powers to blast through this month. He is a fighter! I am always thinking of him and your family. Anything I can do - ask please. Barb/Office.
Yes!! Bathrooms are wonderful.
We will be praying for the week and the experience. LORD grant Your grace for the Spector family in this incredibly stressful season. We thank you for generous people who help with concrete things like bathrooms and meals
Dearest Ben & Emily, I can’t thank you enough for these posts. I know that they are not easy to write, for a number of reasons, but they are helpful to know how to keep praying. They serve a great purpose in reminding us what is most important. You’re faith and trust in the Lord is an inspiration to many. Love to you and your family, Ron & Jenny
Y'all know we'll be praying! Against infection(s), for wisdom, for numbers to bounce back quickly once the round is done, and that your family would continue to shine as a beacon of hope in Christ to a lost and dying world. Exciting news on the bathroom addition front as well.
